Today, we announce the next milestone in our journey: our $35 million Series B round, led by NGP Capital, with Sorenson Capital and Headline joining as new investors, and participation from existing investors including Notable Capital, Flybridge, Two Sigma, Mango, Salesforce, and IBM.
NetBox has become the global market standard for infrastructure management. Massive-scale AI data centers, Fortune 500 enterprises, mission-critical government agencies, global network providers, and many other organizations trust NetBox Labs to operate, understand, automate, and secure their infrastructures. From corporate networks to dense data centers to industrial control systems, every kind of infrastructure benefits from NetBox’s comprehensive and cohesive infrastructure data models, expansive ecosystem, and community. The products that NetBox Labs delivers enable customers to deploy NetBox with confidence and address an expansive array of use cases in modern infrastructure management.
NetBox Labs is on a mission to make it easier to build and manage complex networks and infrastructure.
Infrastructure and networks are more critical to the world than ever before. Since NetBox Labs was founded in 2023, the explosion of modern AI has driven a huge boom in technology infrastructure investment, compounding existing megatrends in connected applications, connected devices, and the world’s transition to digital. The tech infrastructure underlying today’s society is enormously complex and incredibly critical — and becoming more so, faster than ever.
The teams tasked with running and evolving digital infrastructure have adopted NetBox because it represents a convergence of modern best practices for infrastructure management. Teams that adopt NetBox gain cohesive documentation that captures real-world constraints, intent-driven operations and automation, bringing order to chaos, dynamic inventory for the broader infrastructure management stack, and industry standard data models and APIs that unlock ecosystem value. Just as importantly, they gain access to a wealth of industry expertise, integration, and product velocity as a result of NetBox’s near pervasiveness in nearly every type of digital infrastructure.
NetBox Labs customers have shown again and again how adopting the NetBox stack leads to better infrastructure execution, lower resiliency and security risk in critical systems, less drag and lower costs to operate infrastructure footprints, acceleration in automation initiatives, better visibility and decision making, and many other high-value outcomes. From the teams ditching messy and error-prone spreadsheets to companies like CoreWeave accelerating massive digital infrastructure investments to global businesses like ARM, JPMC, and Riot Games leveling up automation and crushing drift, NetBox Labs customers are rewriting the rules of infrastructure management.
Now, we’re in the early innings of AI for managing infrastructure too, driving a whole new set of opportunities and challenges. Already, it’s clear that the teams that manage their infrastructure’s context with NetBox are at a tremendous advantage. NetBox is the semantic map enabling infrastructure AI to navigate and reason about your infrastructure, and in today’s AI-centric world, NetBox’s adoption and value are accelerating even faster.
NetBox Labs is a product company. Since our founding in 2023, we’ve shipped new, high-value features and products every one to two weeks, while staying true to the core NetBox project’s focus on delivering the industry standard source of truth for networks and infrastructure.
NetBox Cloud and NetBox Enterprise make adopting and scaling NetBox easy and safe, while delivering a bevy of high-value features for organizations operating truly critical infrastructure. They deliver out-of-the-box operationalization for every environment and scale, comprehensive security integration, and enterprise-grade features like change management and CMDB integration. They enable teams to manage infrastructure with confidence, cohesion, and control.
More recently, we’ve invested to expand the ecosystem of value around NetBox by directly addressing critical use cases for teams leveraging NetBox as the source of truth. With NetBox Discovery and our rapidly multiplying ecosystem of network, device, and controller integrations, teams can go from zero to NetBox Hero in no time. And with NetBox Assurance, teams find and fix drift in their infrastructure, crushing risk and driving operational maturity.
NetBox Labs is building for the future, too. In 2025, we’ve delivered a series of AI-powered announcements, like the popular NetBox MCP server. NetBox Operator is our upcoming agentic AI product that leverages NetBox as the semantic map to unlock true AI-driven network and infrastructure operations. And we’ve got much more AI innovation on the way.
All of our innovation at NetBox Labs is guided by our community, customers, and partners. Every significant product or feature shipped by NetBox Labs is built with design partner input from dozens — sometimes hundreds — of contributors. We’re energized by the engagement of the NetBox community, and we’re always listening and building together — never in isolation. That’s what makes NetBox Labs products and innovations stick.
NetBox Labs is an open source company. Our community is our superpower. From the start of our business, we’ve followed an open source “North Star” exemplified by two guiding principles:
The virtuous circle of open source investment: We believe open source software like NetBox deserves sustainable, scalable investment. The best way to support that investment is with revenue derived from real product value delivered to customers. At NetBox Labs, we build high-value products for organizations managing complex, critical infrastructure atop NetBox. When customers adopt our products, we reinvest in NetBox and our other community projects — most importantly by hiring teams dedicated to carrying those projects forward on a full-time basis. That results in more value for the community, more adoption of NetBox, and more adoption of NetBox Labs products. This cycle of investment and revenue generation acts as a flywheel for open source scalability. In the last two years, we’ve proven our virtuous circle works, and we’ve hugely accelerated the delivery of value for our community as a result.
The NetBox “Big Tent”: Modern networks and infrastructures “rhyme,” but every infrastructure is unique and, as a result, no two infrastructure management stacks are identical. NetBox Labs plays well with others. Even when we deliver products that address use cases adjacent to NetBox, we also seek to partner and integrate well with other tools in the ecosystem, because the NetBox community and NetBox Labs customers deserve choice. The open, composable ecosystem around NetBox has exploded over the last couple years, and we will continue to invest in supporting our technology alliance partners, lowering barriers to extensibility and composability in the NetBox ecosystem, and building our Big Tent.
NetBox Labs remains committed to open source. Today, the NetBox stack includes not just NetBox — which has rapidly matured since 2023 with a steady march of new releases as it has for the last decade — but also high-impact official extensions like branching and custom objects, along with powerful adjacent projects like Diode for data ingestion and Orb for observability. All of these projects are available to the community and maintained by a dedicated staff of NetBox Labs engineers who are energized by the opportunity to build for our community. And every NetBox Labs product compounds value atop our open source core.
NetBox Labs studies the journey our customers and community are on toward modern infrastructure management. While tactical priorities like improving documentation or accelerating automation may drive projects, teams that adopt NetBox are on a journey to gain control over their footprints. Here’s what that journey most often looks like, through what we call the “4C’s of infrastructure management maturation”:
These stages of the infrastructure management journey aren’t always (ever?) sequential. Teams often mature through these phases for a subset of infrastructure or a single use case — driven by a network refresh, a new data center build, a security audit, or some other initiative — before expanding coverage and applying learnings to accelerate this journey across more of the footprint. But teams that have this journey and these goals in mind take a more strategic approach to modernizing infrastructure management and achieving resilience, security, and velocity outcomes.
Just as we seek to understand the journeys of our community and customers, we also seek to understand the barriers holding them back and the problems to be solved along the path. Often, these needs map to established markets and product categories. At NetBox Labs, we’re tackling all of them cohesively to deliver the next generation of infrastructure management, with NetBox at the core. We are building products and solutions across four huge infrastructure management categories:
The NetBox stack addresses all these use cases, and many more, today. And we’re just at the outset. Our vision is to deepen the product and ecosystem value delivered by NetBox across each of these categories, now fueled by even more capacity to aggressively invest.
We believe the opportunity for NetBox Labs is enormous. As engineers, we’re driven by impact. The pervasive adoption of NetBox, the energy and feedback of the NetBox and network and infrastructure communities, and the flywheels of product feedback and scalable open source investment that we’ve demonstrated in the first years of the company are evidence that the potential for impact at NetBox Labs is essentially unbounded. We’re not thinking small. (Are you motivated by impact for network and infrastructure teams and for the digital infrastructure that underpins today’s world? Check out our many open roles — we’re hiring!)
NetBox Labs is “community first.” This is one of our four core values. Our community is more than just open source NetBox users hanging out on Slack, Reddit, or GitHub (but hey, we love you all!) — it’s every contributor, detractor, tinkerer, and NetBox Labs customer, partner, investor, or employee. And we are deeply thankful for the feedback, support, direct and indirect contributions, and every other kind of engagement from our NetBox Labs community. We don’t get everything right, and we don’t meet everyone’s expectations all the time, but over the last couple of years, we’ve been true to our “community first” values, and we are committed to keeping it that way.
At NetBox Labs, the journey is young. The impact we envision is enormous. Thank you for being part of our path so far. Onward!
