Announcing the NetBox 4.3 Beta

We’re excited to announce that the beta version of NetBox v4.3 is now available! This beta release focuses on enhancements to the core NetBox project, which serves as the foundation for a broad ecosystem of network automation capabilities that include branching and change management, discovery, operational drift detection, data integrations, custom modeling, and much more. We encourage the entire community to explore these new features of core NetBox, test them extensively, and share your valuable feedback.

What’s New in NetBox v4.3 Beta?

Here’s a quick look at some of the most significant new features in this beta release:

  • Module Type Profiles & Custom Attributes: Enhanced support for hardware modeling now includes detailed module type profiles and the ability to add custom attributes. This allows for richer documentation and more precise tracking of hardware components. For example, you can now define custom attributes such as power consumption, clock speed, or firmware version for specific modules, providing greater detail and accuracy in your infrastructure documentation.
  • Hierarchical Device Roles: Device roles can now be organized hierarchically, making it easier to manage and visualize complex role structures within your network.
  • Periodic Synchronization of Data Sources: Data sources can now be configured for periodic synchronization, streamlining data consistency and reducing manual management efforts.

This release also includes numerous additional enhancements, improvements, and new features beyond what we’ve highlighted here. For a comprehensive overview and detailed information on all updates and upgrade considerations, please refer to the full release notes.
