Meet Amanda Rodrigues, our Software Engineer in Test on the Observability team, based in São Paulo, Brazil. Amanda’s focus is building confidence in the product by embedding quality throughout the development process, helping the platform stay reliable and scalable as it evolves.
Her day-to-day puts her close to engineers at every stage of delivery. “Whether that’s writing and maintaining automated tests, investigating failures, improving CI/CD reliability, or contributing to internal tooling, it’s all about helping the whole team move faster with fewer surprises,” Amanda shares. It is quality as a shared responsibility rather than a final gate.
What drew her to NetBox Labs was a combination of leadership and culture. “I joined because of the strong, trustworthy leadership and a culture that truly cares about technical excellence,” she explains. “The fact that the company is known for working with the latest technologies, giving engineers real autonomy to grow, and maintaining such a warm and inclusive culture as a fully remote company was what really drew me in.”
That autonomy is also what excites her most. “I get to work with cutting-edge technologies alongside incredibly talented people, with the space to learn and explore different areas,” Amanda says. “We have everything we need to do our jobs well, and just as importantly, we have the trust of our leadership to contribute in our own way and strive for excellence. That level of ownership makes a big difference in my day-to-day.” On top of that, she adds, the work matters. “It’s especially rewarding to work on a product that has real-world impact.”
Ask Amanda where the company values show up, and she points to her team’s day-to-day work, which she says brings all four together. “Taking ownership of what we build goes beyond engineering. We act as advocates for our products, engaging directly with customers and the community,” she explains, describing Own It. Community First runs just as deep. “Our Discovery foundation is fully open source, so it’s built and discussed together with the community. Community feedback is a key part of how we shape the product.”
Get It Out There showed up in a recent decision. “A good example is how we approached a recent release,” Amanda shares. “Rather than waiting until the full scope was complete, we delivered something that addressed customers’ immediate needs while we continued working toward the long-term solution.” Keep It Simple has guided the team’s recent efforts. “We’ve been trying to apply this more intentionally lately, reducing the scope of projects, focusing on practical, incremental improvements that solve real problems without overcomplicating things. It lets us provide value continuously as things evolve.”
The people are what she keeps coming back to. “My life has been positively impacted by NetBox Labs since day one. This is where I’ve met some truly inspiring people, and it’s amazing how a few minutes of conversation can lead to great ideas and creative solutions,” she says. “It’s a unique experience to work at a startup led by people who are not only incredibly intelligent and experienced, but also thoughtful, humble, and deeply respected in the industry. It feels like the best of both worlds, the innovation and speed of a startup combined with the wisdom that comes from years of experience. I love being part of this team, and I’m excited to see what we’ll build together in the years ahead.”
