A few weeks back, we announced the NetBox 4.1 beta release, with a host of new features and enhancements spanning the NetBox data model, improvements to the plugin experience, and continued UI improvements. Thanks to everyone in the community who has shared feedback and helped identify bugs during the beta release period. Today, NetBox 4.1 is generally available!
You can read more details about all the features and enhancements in this release in our blog announcing the 4.1 beta, or in the release notes for the 4.1 GA release. Quick headlines:
- Addition of circuit groups and rack types to the data model
- Ability to nest device modules
- Direct integration between NetBox and the NetBox Plugins Catalog
- Support for background jobs in plugins
- Support for custom event types in plugins for use with event rules
- Design and visual UI improvements
- Addressing accessibility goals – improving contrast, improving support for screen readers
- Introducing user notification framework
In addition to all these features in NetBox that are now generally available in the 4.1 release, we’ve also been busy with the beta of the new NetBox Branching plugin, which is set to move to GA shortly as well. NetBox Branching requires NetBox 4.1 or greater.
The forward progress at NetBox Labs never stops – we’re already on to the NetBox 4.2 cycle where among other themes, we’re working with ISP and telco users in the community to better address their use cases in the NetBox data model and other functionality. If that sounds like you, join the conversation by sharing your input at product@netboxlabs.com!
