This month at NetBox Labs, we announced our $35M Series B funding round, led by NGP Capital with new investors Sorenson and Headline, along with participation from the world class array of existing open source investors that’s been backing NetBox Labs from the start. This is a tremendous achievement just two years after our Series A funding. Thank you. From the start, the NetBox Labs team has been 100% committed to building a scalable and sustainable business model that remains true to our open source roots. We’ve worked to establish a virtuous circle of investment in open source: we build commercial products around our open source core that deliver value to organizations operating critical infrastructure at scale, and we reinvest the revenue from those commercial products in our open source projects to deliver value to the community. The community grows, new organizations adopt NetBox and decide to leverage our commercial products, and the cycle continues. We have built a scalable and sustainable business model that enables us to continually grow our investment in open source. You can read more about our open source philosophy here. Our community is at the heart of every decision we make. “Community first” is one of four core values at NetBox Labs. And I’m proud that even as we’ve grown our commercial business extremely rapidly, we’ve stayed true to that value and to our virtuous circle strategy. The team that works on open source and open core products at NetBox Labs has grown fast: there are dozens of full time staff dedicated to our open projects – NetBox, Diode, Orb, and more. Now what? We’ll add more fuel to our virtuous circle. NetBox Labs will grow even faster, and we will invest in our projects and community at greater scale. We will deliver more projects and products into the NetBox ecosystem, and we will continue to support the rapidly expanding set of users, use cases, ecosystem extensions and integrations, partners, and contributors to NetBox and our other projects. We are investing more – and attracting more investment – because our model for sustaining and scaling open source works, and because the world needs NetBox. Infrastructure and networks are growing more critical and complex in every facet of business and society. AI is hungry for infrastructure. Every organization continues to digitize at a compounding rate. Operating, understanding, automating, and securing all that infrastructure is the work of our community, and our work serves you. Our mission at NetBox Labs is to make it easier to build and manage complex networks and infrastructure. We’re just getting started, and we’re thrilled to pursue this mission together with you, our community. Best, -Kris |
