Clean up

Tear down what's left, release the regions, forget the deployments and delete the designs.

What's left is rack R1, Riga DC and the region hierarchy. This chapter takes them apart in order, releases the regions, and empties the catalogue, so the organization is back where chapter 1 found it and you can run the tutorial again, or start on your own designs with nothing in the way.

Tear down rack R1

Open rack-r1 and select Tear down. This plan has 271 Delete: the rack and its contents as before, and now the device types, module types, rack type, roles and manufacturers too. rack-r1 created them, and no other deployment describes them any more, so this time they go. Apply.

Tear down the site

Open site_foundation and select Tear down: 2 deletes, Riga DC and its prefix. Nothing stands in the site now, so nothing is in the way. Apply.

Release the regions

Open world_regions and select Release, then confirm. The seven regions stay in NetBox, and Designs no longer owns them. Open Organization > Regions in NetBox: World, Europe, North America and the four countries are still there, and no deployment will touch them.

If you'd rather have the NetBox empty, select Tear down instead: 7 deletes.

Forget the deployments

On the Deployments page, select All to show the released and torn-down deployments alongside the active ones. Each row has Remove: it makes Designs forget the deployment and its sessions, and changes nothing in NetBox. Remove rack-r1, rack-r2, berlin-dc, site_foundation and world_regions, and the rack-r1 you released on the branch in chapter 5, if you deployed into one. The page that says a tear down is applied offers the same Remove, so you may already have removed some of them.

Empty the catalogue

Delete the designs in the reverse of the order you added them, because a design that another design uses can't be deleted while it's in use:

  1. tutorial/compute_rack
  2. devices/Dell_R640_w_module and devices/Cisco_3850_w_module
  3. tutorial/site_foundation
  4. tutorial/world_regions

Each confirmation names the deployments that would stay; there are none now.

The organization is as you found it, apart from seven regions in NetBox that are now its own. Next, where next.
