Spares Management
Available inCommunityCloudEnterprise
Equipment that is kept on standby for potential future use is managed by defining spares pools.
Creating a Spares Pool
- Navigate to Asset Lifecycle > Spares Pools > Add.
- Enter a unique name and select the site at which the pool is or will be located.
- Assign a location within the site, if applicable.
- Click Create.
Adding Spare Items to a Pool
- Open the desired spares pool and switch to the Items tab.
- Click Add Spare Item.
- Select the applicable item type (i.e. rack, device, module, or cable) and then select the item.
- Select the correct status. (The item's status will be "Serviceable" by default.)
- Enter the quantity of the item in the pool. Note: The quantity must be 1 for any items with a serial number or asset tag, which are unique values.
- Under the Properties heading, specify any other applicable attributes. (The available attributes differ based on the item type.)
- Click Create.
Creating a New Object from a Spare Item
This workflow is for creating a new object from a spare item. To mark an existing object as installed from a spare item, see the installation workflow.
- Locate the desired spare item within the applicable spares pool. (Note that only serviceable items can be installed.)
- Click the Install button at top right. This will present a form to create the object using the attributes of the spare item.
- Click Create to create the object and decrement the spare item's quantity by one. If the spare item's quantity reaches zero it is retained in the pool at quantity 0, preserving the pool's history.
Installation of cables directly from a spares pool is not currently supported.
